Meyerland/South Post Oak.

When George Meyer inherited 1,200 acres in Southwest Houston in 1955, he created the Meyerland subdivision with 2,700 lots and an 80-acre reserve for a shopping center. Meyerland is proud of its history and its amenities. Nestled in the crook of the South Loop, just south of Bellaire, the combined Meyerland/South Post Oak community boasts excellent accessibility, beautiful parks, and strong community leaders.

Serious about maintaining the neighborhood’s integrity, the Meyerland Civic Improvement Association ensures deed restrictions are enforced. One of Meyerland’s defining characteristics is its strong Jewish roots. Today, the Southwest Houston neighborhood is served by three synagogues and the Jewish Community Center.

The price range of the homes is from $165,000 to nearly $700,000. While some of the homes are the original 1950s bungalows, others are new construction from homeowners who like Meyerland’s ease and convenience. Meyerland is a 15-minute drive (or less) to downtown Houston, the Texas Medical Center, the Galleria, and the Reliant Park complex. The average yearly income in the Meyerland/South Post Oak area is nearly $100,000.

Houston Independent School District schools include Herod Elementary, Kolter Elementary, Parker Elementary, and Lovett Elementary. Johnston Middle School and Bellaire High School are in the feeder pattern for these students. Houston Public Library’s Meyer Branch at 5005 West Bellfort is a short walk for many residents.
