Westbury
Westbury is a vibrant and active middle-class community in Southwest Houston with the second-largest civic association in the city. Westbury includes 5,100 homes that range in price from $110,000 to $210,000. Accessibility is a big key to the success of Westbury. The Texas Medical Center, downtown, and Reliant Park are within easy reach from the neighborhood.
Construction continues on the Brays Bayou Watershed Project, a $400 million plus collaboration between Harris County Flood Control District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reduce flooding along the bayou. Part of this effort includes the Willow Waterhole Greenway Project, a 380-acre water retention park, which will provide the neighborhood with flood control, land acquisition, recreation, environmental enhancement, and community revitalization. It will have a series of interconnected permanent lakes suitable for fishing and boating.
Schools serving Westbury are Anderson Elementary, 5727 Ludington; Windsor Village Elementary, 14440 Polo; and Red Elementary, 4520 Tonawonda. Students may then attend Dowling Middle School, 14000 Stancliff or Johnston Middle School, 10410 Manhattan. Westbury Christian School and other private schools serve the area.
